"you're welcome, spokane"
Our DTS catchphrase has adopted new locations by the week! First, we were heading to Seattle for mini outreach. Nope, off to Spokane. My team was planning on 2 months of ministry in Ukraine. Now we're preparing for Costa Rica. Some of my friends here are going to Thailand while we're in Costa Rica, and others will be doing outreach in Czech Republic. If I learned nothing else here, I would be well aware that God is in control and He loves every person of every nation.
Mini outreach was one week full of learning, loving, stretching, and shivering! For the learning and shivering aspects, we made half our host church's chilly 70's decor sanctuary into an honorary lecture hall. I learned more about my team (and people in general) during those 5 lectures than I'd learned on this whole DTS so far. Good stuff :]
While we learned how to love our team members, we practiced loving on strangers too...sometimes through prayer, giving gifts, sometimes simple conversation, even listening will show love.
Stepping out of my confort zone was mini outreach all over: street evangelism, people around me 24/7 (quite literally), leading here and there...essentially, pushing past some...ehem...tons of introverted tendencies I happen to have. I'll have to say though, God created and loves all ministries. Dance and music are no exception :] Cafe Night and the night we led youth group were both very powerful experiences simply centered around enjoying people and their talents! God works with everything.
So now we're back in Montana gearing up for week 6 of amazing speakers, outreach prep, worship, prayer, and dance. The adventure of each week really will never cease to amaze...and keep a girl in suspense about her God's big ideas!

the fun kind of love
"he's coming back you guys! and he's taking us with him!!!"
Must be an SBS (School of Biblical Studies) student studying Revelation :]
I absolutely love the atmosphere here...it's the only place I've been where 100 of my peers get excited about eternity, Jesus, and God's love every single day!
Last night, a short worship set turned into a three hour passionate outpouring of God's love. About twenty of us stayed through the whole worship time...song after song kept coming up - the powerpoint guy gave up finding all the extra lyrics after a while. The genuine joy (so much greater and deeper than happiness) kept us singing and dancing until our voices were sore and our bodies were exhausted! Most of us just laughed and cried at the same time realizing He never runs out of love for us!! What other god could be so good? God believes in giving His kids a good time in loving Him back, no question. :]

"she's part of YWAM - Youth With a MacBook..."
I'm on a mission while I'm typing on my MacBook. So much has happened in the past two weeks, indescribable might qualify as an understatement...
Lectures, prayer, worship, shopping in Kalispell, music, cleaning bathrooms and offices (while praying), prayer, church services, people, praying about my future months in the Ukraine, walks through Montana loveliness, homework, movie nights, prayer, dance, writing papers, more praying, buffalo burgers and fried frog legs, a hoedown...it all happens in a week here and we find it very difficult to be lacking activity!
A little bit about lectures:
We've had three key speakers so far covering topics of missions (briefly), hearing God's voice, and the Father heart of God. Each one is excellent ~ so much truth and understanding of God's heart coming at us every day!
Something about prayer:
Hugely necessary and prioritized here! Getting in on a conversation between Jesus, God, and anyone else who happens to be praying/interceding is extremely exciting, I will have to say. It brings you to a place of focus for a passionate vision for an immense world. As John says, "As for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you don't need anyone to teach you. But as His anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit - just as it has taught you, remain in Him." (1John 2:27) The Holy Spirit is one reliable teacher! Constantly connected with God...praying through Him is the way to go. :]
A word about cleaning:
Yup, it keeps our costs down, our buildings pretty, and our hearts humble. It's a big part of our DTS.
And you read that right ~ I'm going to the Ukraine!! I can't really contain the excitement. Every day it hits me and the smiles and jitters infect me again. Granted, it's not the continent I thought I'd go to originally, but God made it abundantly clear where I need to be and I am eager to be a part of the awesomeness that's going to happen in the next few months.
Ukraine is not my ultimate mission. It's part of the mission, but there are zillions of mini missions within the prep for what looks like the grander one. Our entire DTS will be going to Seattle in a couple of weeks for "mini-outreach." We'll be inviting God to work through everything we've learned so far here in Lakeside as we apply it to a pre-outreach outreach. If God lays it on your heart to pray for us, we ALL will appreciate it ~ it will be intense!
Coming soon:
Details on the specific ministries happening in Seattle and prospective ministries in the Ukraine...don't miss it! :]
